Urban activists supply own street furniture

First it was fancy bus stop signs, next it was fancy new buses, but authorities have clearly not gone far enough for the foot-sore residents of Killarney Heights who have started rolling out their own comfy chairs at bus stops.

Typically, the chairs are attached to the bus stop securely with chain.

Where will this grass roots suburban improvement movement end?

Wonderful stone stairs into Garigal National Park

If you go down to the end of Killarney Drive you'll see this sign marking the edge of Garigal National Park.

Despite a valiant attempt to rid our streets of stray dogs, we were harassed by a butt sniffing beast, but that's another story..

Great work has been done on Flat Rock walk and the path down past the waterfall, which was running today, to the little beach. A beautiful staircase has been carved out of the very living rock.

This must have been a huge job over many months and I wish I knew who to thank for it. The steps have been lovingly crafted either by carving from existing stone or by being constructed from rock and wood.

This makes the walk far more attractive and less perilous for us old folks. Our suburb has been enhanced.

Vandals strike bus stop near Killarney shops

In a rare act in this peaceful place, it looks like vandals have smashed the safety glass in the bus shelter near the Killarney shops.

Beware the glass still on the seat:

Hoons invade Starkey Street

The quiet leafy streets of placid Killarney Heights must have been disturbed on at least one night when either hoons caused their vehicles to leave these crazy skid marks:

or perhaps it was a hapless Toyota driver, both feet pressing on the brake, unable to control their runaway car?

Woman's body found in Killarney Heights

AAP is reporting that a woman's body was found in the bush in Killarney Heights on Tuesday.

It's possible that it was dislodged by the recent heavy rain where Forestville recorded the highest rainfall on Sunday in all of Sydney.

Whatever the story, it's great to see Killarney Heights in the news.

No news on Lenny the missing rabbit

Annoying billboard removed from Starkey Street

I'm pleased to report that the annoying billboard placed on Starkey street just near the school crossing has finally been removed.

The "specialised equipment" they speak of appears to be an old tractor tire.

Vegetation bin scandal

We all got a new vegetation bin a few weeks back, apparently the council has changed contractors and for some reason they decided to supply an extra bin.

Nice I guess if you wanted one, but these things do take up space.

We all put the bins out on the day given in the calendar and now weeks have gone by with no collection.

This is the biggest scandal to hit lower Killarney in living memory.

A quiet Sunday in the suburb

Despite a lot of rain over the weekend, and the cancellation of netball near by, Starkey street was still pretty busy.
