The road race track we call Starkey street is being upgraded with more crossings.
No longer will pedestrians have to walk to a crossing as soon there will be one every 10m along the length of Starkey street.
Convenient traffic lights will help to slow the traffic before it gets to one of the projected 300 crossings.
Given that many drivers mount the curb in Tralee Ave and have repeatedly smashed the fence one wonders if all of this visual distraction will help or hinder.

4G congestion in Killarney to be resolved, no 5G yet
Work is underway to upgrade 4G cellular coverage in Killarney Heights. Note that this is not a 5G upgrade but rather extra 4G capacity running on the low 700MHz band.
The upgrade was prompted by congestion on the existing 4G in our area.

Le blog de Killarney passe au français
Il est clair que la banlieue parle maintenant principalement la belle langue française et naturellement ce blog changera afin de répondre aux demandes de notre public.

Suburb of Swingers - Killarney Heights other side
An interesting new trend is emerging in our suburb. It seems that there are many swingers living here. I present the following evidence.

Killarney homes now so expensive even real estate agent living in van
Now that we finally have a decent local hospital, the prices of Killarney Heights homes has shot up such that even successful local real estate agents can't afford to live here.
One agent, who we'll refer to as "Brian", has resorted to living out of a van and is often seen parking in the local Killarney shops.
While the van looks relatively luxurious it's probably not ideal for a chap of his standing.
"Brian" we wish you well and hope that you can earn enough of a commission on each sale to one day save up and buy a real home where you can truely relax and not worry about finding public toilets that can be used as a dump point.

Historic Bini shell building set for upgrade
The beloved Bini shell structure at Killarney Heights Public school - obviously the inspiration for the Sydney Opera House - is slated for an upgrade.
The concrete building has stood the test of time, well, except for a few leaks when it rains, and used to be used as a voting place by local lovers of democracy and Liberals.
The new building bares only a slight resemblance to the original but it's hoped that after a few years the hard edges will wear off and the much loved round shape will emerge.

Killarney local proposes solution to indigenous child abuse
Outspoken Killarney Heights local Yvonne has published a detailed proposal in The Australian as follows:
"Yvonne Crane, Killarney Heights, NSW
The horror of indigenous child rape and endemic abuse is now an indelible stain on our national character. Something must be done immediately, no matter what the cost. As far as I can see, the only possible solution is to set up indigenous boarding schools and staff them with highly trained but closely monitored personnel. Let anyone raising the Stolen Generations mantra come up with a better option."
No announcement of where in Killarney Heights the new indigenous boarding school will be situated has been made so far but Killarney drive might be a good spot with a lovely bush and water outlook.

Residents call to make Killarney Great Again
Australia Day, 2018 brought out the best in conservative Killarney Heights residents who displayed flags in front of their properties calling for us to get back to the great days of the past when Killarney Heights was in the fine custody of the Gadigal tribe.
The now traditional annual display of unified support for local real estate agents was once again on display.
Unlike past years when the flags were proudly made in China, this year they appear to have been made by hand locally.

Witches coven comes to Killarney
Your sharp-eyed correspondent spotted this spooky symbol obviously marking the meeting place of a group of local witches near the bus stop on the corner of Connemara and Starkey streets.
Now that our Tony has been appraised of the true radical views of his own electorate we are no doubt on a slippery slope towards paganism.
Be on the lookout for pentagrams, triquetras, three snakes, endless knots and hectates wheels which will be dotting our suburb in the months ahead.
A bit of nude frolicking in the forest will surely enhance local land values.

Local school up for sale
Locals were stunned today to learn that the local school is apparently being sold off in another example of rampant privatisation presumably promoted by our Federal member.
First it was roads, then poles and wires, and now even public schools appear to be under the hammer.
"Renovator's delight! twelve large bedrooms, plenty of toilets, giant back yard, and off street parking" all makes this a desirable investment for any growing family who wants to get in while the market is down.

Luxurious new bus stop seating being installed
In an effort to further enhance the already very comfortable and pleasant experience of waiting just 20 minutes for the Killarney shuttle to come around again, it seems that new luxury seating is being trialled at one of the stops on the route.
Full leather couches are an obvious next step but for now, this will have to do.

Futuristic transport system trialled first in Killarney Heights
It may not be a Bullet Train or a Hyperloop but once again Killarney Heights is at the forefront of modern transport.
This modern Hino bus, with number plate DDABUS, is the first one in the Forest Coach Lines fleet. Naturally it's being trialled right here. A customer survey is offered to interested patrons where you can give feedback on the comfort and cleanliness of the ride.
A narrower bus is particularly useful on some of our narrower streets where residents park their giant bubble cars on both sides of the road leaving little space for a giant bus to pass through.
Well done Forest Coach Lines for this terrific innovation!

Killarney Shops rocked by pizza scandal
A much loved part of the Killarney shopping experience was the friendly Twigs & Blossoms couture store which professionally and in a friendly way supplied us with a variety of interesting clothes and miscellaneous goods not including twigs.
Locals were shocked to see the note shown here in the window alleging that the land lord had unreasonably not given the store the ability to reasonably renew the lease.
Liz sold up remaining stock at a significant discount and was seen sadly packing up and even selling off shop fittings marking the end of a physical shop and moving to their online operation.
She was a very friendly shop keeper, a credit to the area and will be greatly missed.
More shocking is the rumour that the shop is to be turned in to a pizza restaurant. We already have a pizza restaurant so this was a bit of a surprise. When I enquired what the proprietor at Sorrenti's Pizza thought of this he said, sarcastically, it's a "genius move".
Now that the shop is empty, it's clear that the pizza rumour may well be true as the floor has been marked out and one of the areas seems to say "Gelato".
But all is clearly not going to plan as now the shop is marked as available for lease!
We will have updates as they come to hand.

Close royal links to Killarney revealed
Brian bravely escorted Dianna and her mother to the airport to catch a special Qantas flight.
During the three hours that Brian spent with the pair he clearly gave the young Dianna some sage advice as it was just a month later that she announced that she intended to marry in to the royal family.
There is no doubt that the extraordinary tales of excitement experienced right here in Killarney Heights primed the pump for the popular princess.
As a gesture of thanks, Brian and his wife Joy were sent a piece of wedding cake which, despite its age, is reported to still smell ok. Brian, it's time to eat that cake.

Suspects named in horrific double murder
Rosie and Peggy were murdered right on Starkey street. Carmel is fine, although in shock presumably, but Liquorice was injured in the vicious attack. She has received the best of medical care.
Suspects at this stage are either a feral cat or perhaps a fox.
Personally, I think a rabbit could be the ring leader calling in the "hit" to point the finger at foxes which seem to be getting the upper hand recently.
On behalf of all of the photographers, writers, sub-editors, executive editors, social media wranglers, managers and staff here at the Killarney Heights Suburb blog our sincere condolences to the friends of these beloved chickens.
Moving floral tributes continue to be left at the sight of the slaughter.
Reports are coming in to the blog that another two chickens in Connemara Ave were also taken at about the same time.

Cyclone Debbie hits Killarney hard
Small businesses in Killarney Heights have suffered significant damage from the torrential rains which have fallen in the area in the aftermath of ex tropical cyclone Debbie.
Emergency supplies of chalk and dictionaries will be needed urgently to get things back on track at Tramore place.

Traffic chaos expected in busy Killarney street
This breaking news from a keen eyed reader of the Killarney Heights blog.
"Traffic chaos predicted due to apparently abandoned vehicle in the middle of a busy Killarney street. Owner urged to come forward to avoid removal by council".
Pedestrians have had to carefully choose their walk to avoid collision with dangerously parked vehicles such as this.
Update
A second vehicle has been added to what authorities now believe to be an orchestrated campaign of civil disobedience in Killarney Heights.

Killarney no longer the entertainment capital of the north
What will the residents do for entertainment now that the last local video store has closed?
It seems like only yesterday when there was a golden era and two shops served Forestville. You could get both kinds of video entertainment - Beta and VHS.
Top Video was interesting in that their system involved paying when you returned the video, presumably as late fees were common. The store featured a top shelf packed with more "adult" titles for discerning locals.
Promotional movie posters were for sale on a table out the front but regrettably this local business appears to be gone.
Shop owner, John Miller, is reported to have served customers including local ex-prime minister Tony Abbott for more than 40 years, but when he fell out with him over his "childish" nature, the writing was on the wall.
Be kind, rewind.
